Patience young padwan

Patience. With patience we can overcome almost anything whilst without it we can ruin almost anything.
Patience can help us turn our dreams into reality (losing weight, starting a business or blog). It can help us be better parents, spouses, friends and even strangers (sometimes a smile from an understanding stranger can make the biggest difference when you are having a bad day). If you are patient you do not have to worry about the minutes spent in traffic or in the line at the grocery store. With patience you can see results in all your endeavors and you do not have to spend the precious time of your life getting mad or infuriated.
-- 5 Essential Zen Habits for Balanced Living
Patience ... something I really do not have. Neither with myself not with other people; especially with other people.

When it is impatience with self, I have only to talk to myself and get myself to buck-up or persevere.

How should you handle is when it isn't within your control. When someone else's pace is slower, less precise, less than what you need ... JUST ... NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

What about Time waits for no man?

I Love Koffee

It was close to 11am and I was feeling hungry. I guess that happens when you forget to each breakfast, huh?

So I went downstair, with all the intention of heading towards the nearby Old Town kopitiam but ended up in I Love Koffee instead.

The decor for the place is great. They've got different styles for different nooks and since nobody was there I could have picked any nook. However, thinking that I wanted to eat, a comfy soft sofa might not have been so ideal; I picked a sensible two seater table.

Although their pricing starts from RM4.90 as they have pasted in huge numerics on their window, that's only for a pastry and coffee. For an additional RM2 I could have had an omelette. Hmmm ... quite expensive for just that, I think.

I opted for the Tom Yum Noodles at RM8.90 and an Ice Rose Tea.

The rose tea arrived first. Rose tea my arse! Rose syrup tu rose syrup la. Baka!

Next the Tom Yum Noodles. Huh? Tom yum flavoured instant noodles with crabstick, some prawns, lettuce and onions?! What the hell, I could have had better at home. Urgh!

I hope to hell that this is cause I just simple have chosen the most wrong-est (yes this is a word now) food in the whole place. Should have opted for the chicken maybe, hopefully it would be better.

So, the food there is not great at all to me but I still like the setting of the place. Maybe I'll just go back with some manga and have coffee. Can they screw up coffee much?

Oh yeah, I didn't bring my camera, so no pictures, you want pictures, go read Vonvon's Interest of the place.

100% COMPLETION ON Tuesday, March 27, 2057

I was reading Kill Busywork: The One Skill to Focus On What Matters which lead me to My Life Countdown.

The steps for calculating my life expectancy went pretty well up until the step for getting my very own countdown to death timer. The suggested iGoogle timer was the Countdown Clock.

I have used the gadget previously for different purposes and I like the simple interface. However, I don't remember the year being a drop-down option; the latest you can choose currently is 2023. Hence, I can't use it as my TOD is March 27, 2057.

It appears that a number of the countdown gadgets being offered are using the same method of input as the Countdown Clock. Luckily, I did manage to find Countdown Progress Timer.

Con: The numbers of days left is quite tiny. I still like the nice blue box displaying the number of days left from the Countdown Clock.

Pro: On top of a countdown to TOD, I also have a counter of how many days I have lived. PLUS ... there is a progress bar for tracking my life's completion.

100% COMPLETE ... now doesn't that sound better than ... DEAD?

It's been one week

Happy one week anniversary!

So, finally moved into the apartment last week. Everything is still a mess. Stuff in boxes, boxes and more boxes. I thought that I'd have more time to clean up and sort out stuff once I'm there but that hasn't been the case.

Yes! My laziness has kicked in yet again.

That; accompanied by the completed download of 23 books of Skip Beat! I'm almost done with that and there's already 2 other procrastinating projects awaiting. LOL

I should really start on unpacking those boxes BEFORE I start on those projects.

It's been pretty nice nonetheless.

Still open to donations of TV rack, TV, vacuum cleaner, etc, etc ...

On the lookout for shorts

Does anyone know where I can go to look for a new pair (or two) of shorts?

I call them going-out shorts as opposed to working/at-home shorts. Y'know, the dressier ones where you pair it up with a killer pair of heels and your friends think you're over dressed?

The last pair of going-out shorts I had was from a little shop in Asian Avenue in Sunway Pyramid. Didn't see any that caught my eyes when I went there last. The fad must have faded.

But I've always liked shorts.

In a hot hot country like this, shorts and tank tops are like staple wear for me. I wear them so much that even my semi-going-out shorts have tears in them and is now fit for the trash.

So ...
... gimme links
... gimme shop names and location

... cause I'm just too lazy waste time going to the shops and seeing nothing I like.

Shining and bleak

Shining ...
... the apartment is almost livable. Well, it's livable now but there's a problem with the tap outlet of the dry kitchen which I hope will be resolved this weekend.

So, possible move in this weekend.

Bleak ...
... on the work front, there has been some bad news coming in. Not able to disclose it as yet but it's not looking good.

Sad.

Worried.

Test before you assume

4. Question authority.

... One of the oldest living renegades, Siddhartha Gautama (also known as the Buddha) once said, “Do not believe anything that you’ve been told, unless it agrees with your own common sense.” The same advice applies 2,000 years later. Listen to yourself first, before you listen to the experts. Test before you assume.
Jonathan Mead's article in Zen Habits lists this as one of the traits of the Free Man.

The liong-liong that charbo and I went to calls this subborness. In fact, that's about the only thing she kept repeating, I have to stop being so stubborn and listen and follow what people says.

She mentioned that I would attempt something despite other's advise against it; even though there is a high possibility of failure and that I KNOW that it would fail. Just so that I prove it to myself that it indeed does not work!

I don't see a problem with that.

If you don't touch a boiling kettle, how do you know for a fact that it would burn?

How do you make additional moolah without having a second job?

The cost of the kitchen is just escalating. Mom says that I shouldn't keep complaining that CuzS is expensive but what do you do when it's fact?

At this rate, I'm just 'yes-ing' to everything that I originally wanted anyway and be damned the cost cause I want to get it over with. My tiny (well, maybe not so tiny) kitchen is about to cost as much as my brother's which is probably 1.5 times bigger than mine.

*sigh* So, now, how do I pay for it? Is it possible to earn anything this way? Maybe not to the extreme of everything but I know I have lots of things that are still usable but I no longer use.

If these were my stuff, would you buy them for maybe RM5/RM10 a piece? Pick-up only?

calliepod might be dying

I think calliepod is dying.

Half the time I plug it in to pull new songs from iTunes, she just hangs.

She doesn't load in iTunes; in fact, she kills iTunes. The 'Do not disconnect' remains constantly on screen with no graceful way of ejecting her from the PC. It remains after you pull off the cables and there's no way to turn her off except to wait for her powers to drain.

She seems to have a spurt of life after the power drain but on the next connection to iTunes, she just dies again. :(

Must make room to transfer everything from calliepod soon. Lest I loose everything I have entrusted to her.

No! No! You're still too young!

NOOOO!!!!

All systems go ... almost

Finally managed to get the request for renovation back from my uncle. He & his friends will be doing my plaster ceiling, wiring, installation, plumbing ... etc. etc. Still need him and my cousin who's doing my kitchen together so that they can discuss what goes where. Hopefully I can get them to agree on a time this Saturday. Cousin was suppose to call back earlier with the timing but never did. Will have to give her a call tomorrow.

Psyched! Can finally start soon!

Just need to fill up the rest of the forms and hand it in to the management office for approval.

Should be able to move in by the end of May? *fingers crossed*

Is that an auspicious time for moving in?

Dining area

So, I have a 9x9 wall right in the middle of my rectangular space in my apartment which holds my living-dining-dry kitchen; in that order. I've been changing my thoughts on what I want for that wall a few times now and currently, this is what I think I want.

The wall, instead of olive green, I want it in red.
Plus black gothic chandelier.
The dining set that I've bought is similar to the one shown but not exactly the same.

Would this be too bold?
Would I be able to get those glass tiles here?
Can I afford them?

Sneaky teacher

I have been thinking whether I should continue with my Tuesday Latin class because I was looking for a technique class while the class is mainly a beginners class. Then on the last class, the teacher actually did some technique. Now I'm wondering, yet again, if I should continue.

That's one sneaky move, 김 선생님!

KWSP Approved

Yes! Application for withdrawal approved. Cash was in my account within a week.
Literally ... A WEEK! Shockers from a government section, don't you think?
Well, I was pleasantly shocked when I saw the amount.

So, now all I've gotta do is wait for confirmation from my contractor uncle on when he's able to start on my apartment.

Oh yeah, I'll need to get the form back from him to pass to the apartment management for approval. So mah fan to renovate your own place! Urgh!
